The Lil Jo's Times

A Message from the owners:

Lil Jo's Footwear Ltd. is a family owned business that has been manufacturing soft soled leather baby shoes since mid 2003. The business was started by the present owners who are parents of  two small children. The manufacturing facility consisted of a small building located in Maple Ridge, BC. The first shoes were cut by hand and were sold to area merchants.

Our reputation for manufacturing a quality product soon spread beyond the local area and within a few short months, more space was needed to accommodate our growing business, so we needed to move in a big way!! The increased demand for our Lil Jo's baby shoe brand led to our move to a much larger manufacturing facility in Port Coquitlam BC, which better meets the increased growth of our company. In less than two short years, we saw our company grow into one of the leading manufacturers of soft soled baby shoes in North America.

Lil Jo's Footwear has always been committed to manufacturing their product in Canada, and to only using the best materials and the best hard working Canadian labour. We, to this day, still hold to that commitment. Throughout our 2 years we have always been committed to serving our customers with a quality product which is reasonably priced. Lil Jo's Footwear is one of the few baby shoe manufacturers left in Canada today. Our product is sold all over North America.

Our internet website you are currently visiting is our latest venture in selling our brand of baby shoes. However, our goal is not just to sell our baby shoes. We at Lil Jo's sincerely hope that by sharing our detailed  knowledge of our product, that you have found us a helpful resource in making informed decisions on purchasing the best possible soft soled baby shoes for our most important customer - your baby!

Thank you all for your continued support and trust in our product!!

"10 things  to remember when thinking about your baby's first shoes"

1. Begin thinking about baby's first shoes when your baby begins to pull up on furniture or other household things. Pulling up leads to baby's first steps, which leads to walking around, which then leads to running around
like the wind!!

2. Walking Barefoot is always the best for your baby's natural foot development but not always the most practical.

3. While standing, walking or running around indoors, our Lil Jo's baby shoes will help keep your baby's feet cool in the summer and warm in the winter, as well as prevent them from slipping on hardwood or tile floors.

4. While standing, walking or running around outdoors, our Lil Jo's baby shoes protect your baby's feet from sharp objects, rain, snow or just the hot summer ground.

5. With our Lil Jo's baby shoes on, it's like your child is walking barefoot, offering only protection. They give your child a non-slip, natural support, just like being barefoot - but better.

6. Our Lil Jo's Baby shoes are breathable and easy to care for, which we feel is very important. So make sure you select a genuine leather baby shoe which is breathable and can be put in the washing machine, as well as the dryer.

7.  Try to find shoes that are easy for you to get on and off, yet difficult for your child to get off.  We suggest a slip-on, elastic support shoe just like our Lil Jo's brand baby shoe. Clunky shoes have laces, which

is fine, just be prepared to double knot them.

8.  A good fit is very important to your child, so make sure your child feels natural in the shoes you select.  A quarter inch room for growth is more than enough room. This is the right amount of room to prevent tripping and to maximize the life of your baby's shoes.

9. When you first put shoes on your child's feet, if your child behaves differently in shoes as apposed to without shoes, the shoes are not flexible enough.  Do not let anyone tell you the child needs to get used to the shoes, because it's usually the other way around. Your child will learn to adapt to the shoes, thus not letting the child's foot develop properly!

10. Feet grow quickly at early ages and shoes generally need to be changed every 3-4 months.  As the foot is growing, it is also developing.  If the shoes are too tight the foot cannot grow and will not develop properly.  In fact, according to the U.S. government, 2/3 of all adults have problems with their feet by the time they reach middle age and 99% of the problems could have been prevented with shoes that were not too tight during the infant and preschool years.

We have alot of new things on the go here at Lil Jo's, new designs, new colors,
and new ideas!!

It's o.k. to dream.
Like all parents, we dream of giving our children a better life, a better chance
for the future. And in our search for something better,
we made our own dreams come true.
